Eliot: Hardison, how am I supposed to get out of the FBI offices with a box full of surveillance tapes, huh?
Hardison: [Over comms] Punch somebody!
Eliot: [Threateningly] Oh, I'm gonna punch somebody.
Eliot: There was this girl I grew up with. But anyway, she married somebody else, so...
Hardison: Hot damn. What did you do?
Eliot: What did I do? I liberated Croatia.
Eliot: What, you think the only thing I know how to do is bust heads? Look, hold a knife like this, cuts an onion. Hold a knife like this cuts throught, like, 8 yakuza in 4 seconds. Screams, carnage, people are like knives, everything is in context.
Hardison: I spent 3 days hacking White House email. We're doing some hinky stuff in Pakistan. Hinky.
Sophie: What have you been doing the last six months?
Eliot: ... I was in Pakistan.
Eliot: These guys don't fight because they like hurting other people. They fight to gain some sort of control, over their opponents, over their environment, over their lives... Have you seen this town? The farms are drying up. The only stores are bailsbonds and pawn shops, and there's nothing they can do about it. So yeah, they get in the ring and try not to let it suffocate them. ...And it's about 2 guys beating the crap out of each other.
Eliot: You think I'm gonna let that guy kick my ass? I learned a long time ago, you can't control the violence. I can take the punishment. It's what I do. What I need to control is not out there. [pats chest] It's here. Always.
Eliot: She'd mop the floor with you, Hardison. Seriously, she actually killed a guy once with a mop. It's a funny story, actually. She broke the mop and took...
Eliot: The A-line drape of the empire waist is nice but the neckline's a little weak if you ask me... What? I date a lot of models. Looot of private fashion shows, if you know what I mean.
Eliot: Now the http thing comes before the www. right? Which one's the forward slash? See it ain't that much fun when you're hanging out there in the wind and some dude is on a laptop cracking jokes, is it?
Eliot: I don't care, you don't collect debts at a wake. You just don't do it. Want me to go downstairs and break this guy's knees?
Nate: Eliot, I'm gonna ask you not to do anything violent.
Eliot: What? What are you talking about? I only use violence as an appropriate response.
[Sterling appears, and Eliot immediately punches him.]
Eliot: I made her a promise that if she ever needed me I'd be there for her. Cause I made the same promise to the United States Government. And I found out, you can't make that promise to more than one person.
Hardison: You know, Fermi's paradox says that it's improbable for other life forms to exist.
Eliot: Yeah? Well, Drake's equation shows that orbiting around the hundred billion stars in our galaxy there's up to ten thousand planets with technological civilization. [Smiles at Hardison who gives him a surprised look] You never know when you might have to fight an alien.
Eliot: Overconfidence will kill you faster than a bullet anyday. Fear is good.
Eliot: See that's the difference. Between a real soldier and this little Halloween outfit you got going on. You'd kill to protect your rights. A real soldier, he'd die protecting somebody elses.
Eliot: Every one of Moreau's men has innocent blood on their hands, every one of them. Every one of them... are worse than me. You think you know what I've done? The worst thing I ever did in my entire life, I did for Damien Moreau. And I... I'll never be clean of that.
Parker: What did you do?
Eliot: Don't ask me that, Parker. Because if you ask me, I'm gonna tell you. So please don't ask me.
Eliot: What do you want to know? Names? Dates? Locations? What food was on their breath? Their eyes? You want to know what color their eyes were? Want to know the last words they spoke? Want to know which ones deserved it? Or better yet, the ones that didn't? Want to know which ones begged? Want to know why I know these things? Because I can’t forget. So there's nothing you can do, no punishment you can hand out that I don't live with every day. So to answer your question, no, I never counted. I don't need to.
Eliot: Bad choices are bad choices. It doesn't matter why you made them. And they tear you apart, from the inside out. And you don't even notice.
Hardison: [Over comms] Punch somebody!
Eliot: [Threateningly] Oh, I'm gonna punch somebody.

Neither of these links really has a chronological history/backstory, so let's just do a bullet-point summary here to get the main points. Not that much is known of Eliot's backstory, as he's a very private person.
- Born probably mid 1970s.
- Grew up in a Southern or Midwestern state. Probably has at least one sibling. His father ran a hole-in-the-wall hardware store that he wanted Eliot to take over. Was a football quarterback in high school.
- Wanted to change the world, so he joined the army at age 18, with "God in his heart, and a flag on his shoulder." The night before he left, he had a fight with his father, and they haven't spoken since.
- Eventually became part of special forces and/or black ops.
- Had one serious relationship, with his high school sweetheart Aimee. However, Eliot not settling down, repeatedly leaving (to serve the US government) finally led her to marry someone else.
- Apparently liberated Croatia? Worked as a mercenary for various governments. He has been through some SERIOUS SHIT.
- Worked as head henchman for criminal mastermind Damien Moreau, becoming a famous wetwork artist in the criminal underworld. Did some of the worst things he's ever done during this time.
- Learned how to cook from a man named Toby, who kept Eliot from falling all the way down into pure badness.
- He's a retrieval specialist, with a wide and varied list of skills. He generally works alone.
- In 2008, he was hired alongside four other people to steal something. This job led to this group teaming up as Leverage consulting, teaming up against bad guys, righting wrongs, and generally Robin Hooding. Eliot was Leverage's muscle, "the hitter", protecting the team from danger.
- Remained with this group for the next 5 years, though with occasional breaks, during which he did jobs as a merc or for the US government. At one point in there is stopped a nuclear missile in Iran, so he's probably saved the world at one or more points.
- This group became his family, with Eliot becoming the big brother and protector of Hardison and Parker in particular. In 2012, when the "parents" of the group left/retired, Eliot promised to protect the other two till his dying day.
Does your character have any close ties to existing canon characters?
Not an OC/AU, but obviously Eliot has very close ties to Parker and Hardison.
Why do you think your character would work in this setting?
Eliot will NOT be happy about being dropped somewhere against his will, and he may be looking for someone to blame. First encounter will definitely be tense, and might even be violent, depending on a) whether anyone forces him to go anywhere and how trapped he feels, and b) how good of an explanation he gets. (He generally doesn't hit anyone unless they either trap him or attack him first.)
However, he'll probably calm down a little especially once he realises Parker and Hardison is also there. Or in general when he realises he can't punch his way out of the situation. Out of the three of them, he's probably the least likely to get bored in a place like New Dodge, though he might be a little sad that there's no one to beat up to protect his buddies. (He will definitely take up recreational fighting sports.)
Basically, if Parker and Hardison stay, Eliot will stay. Those two are the most important people in his life. If they leave, well, he might need to revisit that decision. Maybe he'll wait it out and hope for them to come back. Maybe it happens too early for him to have a say in the matter. Maybe by the time he can leave, he's formed enough personal bonds to stick around.
How do you plan to expand their CR?
Obviously it would be boring to just do canoncest, and thankfully Eliot is a pretty social person. Defending his buddies may be his number one priority, but he's always had a life outside of them. I'm looking forward to having him expand his social network into, well, other universes technically.
Once he chills a little and stops being suspicious of literally everyone - likely to happen pretty quickly, at least once he realises most people there are in the same boat as him - he'll start making friends. He likes honest, hard-working people, and he likes helping out, so he'll probably be lending a hand to anyone who needs it.
He'll also probably choose a job that lets him interact with people, or at least get involved with groups. He's a pretty active guy, always doing something or other, and barely sleeps, so there will be socialising in there.
What will your character do for work?
There’s a bunch of options: personal trainer, cook, bouncer, pub owner, singer... is there a ranch? Give Eliot a horse and he'll be happy. Anything related to working with food or physical activity are likely possibilities. He'll focus on honest work here, since there won't be as much room (or need) for vigilante activity.
Inventory:
The clothes on his back, wallet (containing several fake IDs under various names), a pocket knife, and.. that's probably it.

Third-Person Sample:
Eliot appraises the hard-drive lying in front of him. It's strange for him to imagine that such a little thing holds the dirty secrets of the most powerful (and corrupt) people in the world.
Once upon a time, Eliot had thought it was easy to know who the enemy was. Barely an adult, ready to go save the world - he'd thought telling black from white was pretty easy back then. It had taken him a while to realise he was becoming blacker by the second himself. Some of the stains he's gained over the years would never come off. The best he can aim for is grey. But what he can do is keep his friends from getting the same stains on their souls.
And now here they are again, with a clear enemy, ready to be taken on. Bigger than anything they've done so far. And that's saying quite a bit.
"I'm gonna dump this on the darknet," Hardison said.
"Every crew from around the world's gonna want in with us," Parker followed.
"I mean just think about it. Leverage International."
They made it sound so easy. It never seemed quite so simple to Eliot, but now it was their war. Unlike many that Eliot had been involved in, this one was a war worth fighting.
Part of Eliot's always known he was going to go down fighting. Guys like him don't retire. They get old and slow, and when others come to get their revenge, one day they finally succeed. But until that day he's going to protect those two in any way he can. Even while fighting in another war.

Alright, so... I know y'all are probably never going to see this, but...
[He pauses, looking away from the screen, frowning for a moment before looking back.]
Hey Nate, you know how you said I never need anything? Well, I might have proved you wrong.
I'm in this... I dunno, this place, they sort of told me where it is, but I don't think I could explain it myself. [The ghost of smile.] Hardison could, but then you guys probably wouldn't understand it any more than I did.
They're here too, though. Only... They're not... [A frustrated sigh, he looks away again, rubbing his knuckles.] They're not the same. I mean, they are, but... The past year, it never happened for them. No brew pub, no black book, no... Washington. No Portland.
[Suddenly the smile returns, and he even laughs a little.] Hell-- They don't even know we pulled off the white rabbit.
[Then he falls silent again, pensive.]
Anyway, you said to call if I needed anything, but I can't really do that, so, that's why I'm recording this. Pointless, really. Even if you got it, you couldn't do anything about it.
I dunno, they tell me I can't get back there for half a year. So I guess... I'll stay here and protect them. Even if they're not them... I think they're probably close enough.
